<p>Rumours of President Jim Rutherford and GM Patrik Allvin&#8217;s plans have been entirely quiet on the trade front leading up to Friday&#8217;s deadline. But with the defending Pacific champion Canucks clinging onto their playoff hopes in a prime seller&#8217;s market, the franchise is at a crossroads; Do they push for those two home playoff dates? Or make big changes and prepare for the future?</p>
<p>The Canucks have a few pending free agents to make decisions on, <a href="https://canucksarmy.com/news/boeser-trade-not-great-time-vancouver-canucks-play-jonathan-lekkerimaki">including Brock Boeser</a>. Talks about an extension have not progressed thus far, and the likelihood of him having played his last game in the blue and green has increased in the past week. As has been the case for Pius Suter, whose name was linked to the Dallas Stars in recent days.</p>
<p>On Thursday, the <a href="https://canucksarmy.com/news/vancouver-canucks-trade-carson-soucy-new-york-rangers-third-round-pick">Canucks dealt Carson Soucy to the New York Rangers</a> in exchange for a third round pick, kicking off their deadline week trade activity.</p>
<p>The Canucks are looking for scoring help in the top six and potentially more depth on defence, and neither come cheap in a seller&#8217;s market. The incentive to punt on the year and accumulate draft picks and prospects is much stronger, but as long as the current ownership structure has been in place, the team has yet to fully pull the plug and start again.</p>
