<p>Because the team played last night before getting on a plane and heading to Calgary, the Canucks elected not to hold a morning skate today, meaning head coach Rick Tocchet didn&#8217;t meet with the media until later in the day. When he did though, the Canucks&#8217; bench boss confirmed that Kevin Lankinen would be in the crease tonight and that captain Quinn Hughes would make his return to the lineup.</p>
<p>Tocchet said post game on Tuesday that there was a <a href="https://canucksarmy.com/news/tocchet-says-good-possibility-hughes-returns-vancouver-canucks-pivotal-matchup-calgary-flames">&#8220;good possibility&#8221;</a> Hughes would return tonight after <a href="https://canucksarmy.com/news/scenes-morning-skate-lankinen-starts-vancouver-canucks-shake-up-4-forward-lines-montreal-canadiens">skating in a non-contact jersey at yesterday&#8217;s morning skate</a>.</p>
<p>Hughes has been sidelined since March 1st, when he couldn&#8217;t play for most of the third period of the Canucks&#8217; game against the Seattle Kraken. He played just one 54-second shift in the final 10 minutes of the third period in that game, and hasn&#8217;t been back since. That was just Hughes&#8217;s third game back from a previous injury, suffered against the Dallas Stars on January 31st.</p>
<p>That injury, believed to be an oblique injury, held Hughes out for most of the month of February. On the whole, he&#8217;s missed 14 of the Canucks&#8217; 64 games this season. As the Canucks&#8217; leading scorer by still a fairly significant margin, he&#8217;s obviously a very welcome addition to the club&#8217;s blueline for tonight&#8217;s game.</p>
<p>In goal, Kevin Lankinen will start games on back-to-back nights, as he was the Canucks&#8217; choice for <a href="https://canucksarmy.com/news/stanchies-vancouver-canucks-spiral-continues-4-2-loss-montreal-canadiens">Tuesday night&#8217;s 4-2 loss to the Montreal Canadiens</a>, a game Lankinen made 23 saves on 26 shots in.</p>
